DO YOU SEE WHAT I SEE?

by Nautika

“Red is defrem…deshin…defimit…You look good in red,” slurred Reed, leaning against the table, as Sato reached past him to get a glass of champagne.

“Thanks,” she said, pulling a face and walking away as fast as she could.

Glass in hand, Sato joined Captain Archer and T’Pol as Archer was saying, “Yep, that’ll be my New Year’s resolution – to follow the golden rule.”

“A logical choice, for an illogical custom,” stated T’Pol.

“Ah, Hoshi, Merry Christmas!” said Archer, turning his body a little to include her in their conversation.

“Same to you, captain. What’s that you’re drinking?”

“Not sure…but, it’s green,” Archer took a cautious sip.

“I believe Phlox said it was a Denobulan celebratory drink,” interjected T’Pol.

All three turned as someone tapped a microphone. “Before we get to the good part of tonight, I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank those crew members who are missing the party to be on duty,” Tucker pulled a harmonica out of his pocket, “This is dedicated to them.”

As the mournful sounds of “Blue Christmas” reached the camouflaged Suliban’s ears, he thought about his family. What a strange coincidence that today was also a holiday on his home world, but here he was, spying on a bunch of humans instead of being at home with his new hatchling.

He watched and listened to the party and decided perhaps the attack could wait until tomorrow.
